Inca Mythology

Viracocha was considered the original splendor or The Lord, Master of the World. In reality, he was the first deity of the ancient Andean inhabitants. The worship of the creator god implied a concept of the abstract and the intellectual, and was intended only for the nobility.

Like other gods, Viracocha was a nomadic god. According to myths, he emerged from the waters and created the sky and the earth. He had a winged companion, the Inti Bird, a kind of magical bird knowledgeable about the present and the future.
